Transcript from an interview with Jonah on 02/07.
What is the ‘99 Studios Warehouse?
‘99 Studios is the physical space where I write, record, produce, perform, and release original music. I wanted to create a digital space to house song demos, unreleased music, older files, merchandise, as well as other behind-the-scenes ideas, so I created this online storage facility to do just that.
Is that you as a baby on the cover of “Songs from 6th East”?
Yep!
Do you play all the instruments on your songs?
I play the guitar, piano, ukulele, and banjo on my songs. Sometimes I ask people who are better at those instruments than me to play certain bits, and the other instruments (drums, cello, synthesizer) are programmed by myself or other producers on the computer.
Do you sing the background vocals on your songs? Is that you whistling on your songs?
Yes and yes!
Which comes first, music or lyrics?
For me it’s usually the lyrics, but it varies from song to song.
What’s a “room full of otinence” in “Stick Around”?
It’s just me saying, “a room full of votes, and it’s…” kind of quickly.
Who’s Mary?
